Is your teen or young adult lost or struggling?
About
My passion is helping people reach their potential!
As a former middle school teacher I worked with students varying in ability and socioeconomic background. This was my initial training in working with special needs, 504's, IEP's and alternative education. My personal life brought more insight as we parented our children who have ADHD, each with their own gifts and unique needs. While homeschooling our daughter, I went back to graduate school to develop my skills to a professional level to be able to share what I have learned to help families better function while going through the parenting years. In 2011, I completed a Master of Arts in Counseling / Psychology, while my son and husband won the Little League World Series.
My approach is customized to the needs of the client, be it the entire family, a couple or one of the children. Within therapy, I weave in art, meditation, athletics, yoga, spirituality and lots of positive discussions to encourage proactive movement toward your life purpose.
I look forward to meeting you!
Social Skills
For teens and young adults who struggle with social interaction.
I incorporate material from UCLA PEERS Social Skills Treatment, Michelle Garcia Winner and Prepare & Enrich Teen Dating customized to each client's unique needs.
Emotional Intelligence
For individuals, couples and families who have difficulty understanding behavior.
I have collected numerous surveys and excercises that illuminate the uniqueness of each individual. The insight developed from the sessions offers clients a roadmap to better understanding of self, while increasing positive relations with others.
Special Education
Consultation
For families who need guidance in beginning the special education process for a child, teen or young adult.
During a consultation I provide ways to support the child academically, socially and professionally. We will explore the child's needs, assess levels of competency and derive a plan of action. Consultation meetings are usually not weekly, but as needed.
